Kenyan Ministry Newsletter 2008

I know you have heard the scripture “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord” Well it is in Ex 14:13-14. Upon looking at it again I feel much like the Moses & the children of Israel of old.

But Moses said to the people," Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; ….14 " The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent." NASU

With this ministry in Kenya I have been praying and believing the Lord to open the Red Sea that keeps these dear ones from the promises of God for them.  Let me tell you what what has been done up to this point.

********************************************************************************************

Greetings to all of you in the Lord & may He bless each of you much. This is a report to all of you within my reach to let you know of the Orphans in Eldoret, Kenya. First of all, in the last year, I need to let you know the numbers have grown from 23 to 200 young children who are either poor or without parents due to the rampant killer AIDS in Africa. And it has grown to more children sites in addition in Uganda & Rwanda where they care for an additional orphans. Take a look at their pages.

  • Ø      They still live in the church building. They have 4 ladies who serve faithfully to teach them their school lessons. The teachers get a small salary.
  • Ø      The need is still great for food and water. A water well was started but ran into a rock and no more money to dig further. There is a great need of water as it has been the driest year in many.
  •  Ø   In 2007-08 during the elections was a break out in riots and it turned into a war. Many are unable to return to their homes where their neighbors burned their homes or killed a family member. They are homeless and with out the basics including Bibles in their native language of Kiswahili.
  • Ø      School supplies, clothing, bedding & shoes

Another man who was our first graduate fell ill to yet another form of malaria that is called cerebral malaria and he is not yet fully recovered. He was used to help Pastor Sylvester by correcting the many lessons by the students as they came in to the headquarters. He is our dear brother Sebastian and he still needs much prayer as he is away with family until he has a full recovery. We need him in the ministry so if you will remember him in your prayers, please.

When I first sent clothes there were 23 orphans. It was about all I could do to send free donated used clothing.  But recently I received pictures of over 200 at this time. There is no way I can do this alone, thus the reason for this newsletter.

Here these little ones are in Kenya with the enemy raging in a variety of ways, medical emergencies, malaria, drought etc… but my hope is in Him to hear the cry of the fatherless and the orphans WILL YOU BE THE ONE TO HELP?

In the 5 years I have known of this ministry I have know four people who have gone to this work in Kenya and verify it is a genuine work & this minister is genuine and trustworthy. All the monies will be used for the children. It is an orphanage without a building & without the necessary tools & necessary people to tend to them.

If you want a foreign ministry,

love to work with children

here is a ministry for you.

Along with the poor & orphans are other desperate needs, I will list below.

Ø      A good minister for the Lord is a man we know of from Greece.  Themis has been going to this ministry for over 6 trips now over the last 3 years and was able to build a home for the widow of Pastor Silas who died in early 2004. She is Mrs. Jane Omondi & they had 4 daughters. Themis was able to get the funds from people where he ministers from a few nations by Greece, to build her a home and send the school age girls to school. What a blessing that has been. I see it as the New Testament in action to care for the widows and the fatherless. Thank you Themis!

His email address: Themis K. davariyah@panafonet.gr

Jane can be contacted thru Pastor Sylvester.

Ø      Anther great unmet need is a Grandma Jerita & her seven grandchildren (ages 4 ½ to 15 years old.)  All are also orphaned due to AIDS and she feeds them on a small vegetable garden. She can be contacted thru Pastor Sylvester.

Ø      Jael is another unmet need, who is a young lady, now 14 years of age. She has been raising her 3 younger sisters Ruth 11, Grace 5 and Salome 2 ½ years of age, for over a year now. They are all alone as their parents are gone due to AIDS. They eat whatever they can find.   She can also be contacted thru Pastor Sylvester.

I was also able to come into contact with a wonderful brother in the Lord & his wife. They are Sifiso & Bongi of South Africa. He went to visit the work in Kenya last year in 2005 and got to know the people and is committed to help in ways he can. Thank you, Sifiso & Bongi! They can be reached at this email address: thehouseofjudah05@yahoo.com

A friend named Keith who has helped Rev. Sylvester for several years has a website for this ministry in Kenya & he is currently raising funds for Bibles & the students for the Refugee camp in Kakuma, Sudan. He has a website at: http://keithswebpages.com/kenya His email is: keith@keithswebpages.com

Another brother who is now with the Lord is Craig and his widow is Pam. They have sent Bible Helps Books in the past. He has a site where he posts in-depth Bible Studies and can be seen at: http://www.bibleanswerstand.org/home.htm and she manages the site & her email is pam@bibleanswerstand.org

A USA pastor from the Pacific North West is Overseer Williams. He has been a blessing in ministering to this mission in East Africa to send bikes to all the pastors, a box of clothes, a typewriter, he funds mission trips Sylvester makes to the various countries and much more. He was the first one to travel to Kenya and meet Rev. Sylvester and verify the work going on there. I can't thank him for all he has done enough.  He can be reached at: overseerwilliams@hotmail.com

A friend Cristian who just migrated to Canada in 2005 from Romania helps with the orphans and he has a site at: http://www.pastors.go.ro/ He can be reached at secrieru@telus.net He speaks and reads and writes English beautifully. He is one that blesses me so much as from his income he is faithful to help as he feels the Lord direct.  Now his pastor has sent some support as well & plans a trip to Kenya this summer in 2008.

Concerning the minister of this work in Kenya, Bishop Sylvester (he speaks English and Kiswahili) who has a heart to get the word of God out to his people and minister to them in whatever ways the Lords leads and it is now a correspondence school and an orphanage in the church building. He currently oversees close to 20 churches in 7 different nations. I am told this is not done in Africa to join different people of different nations and tribes like this. But praise the Lord God is doing a wonderful thing. People are being water baptized, taught the word of God and growing in the Lord due to the dedication of this faithful & dear man of God.

As for the Correspondence Course we found a translator from English to French. She is Maggie of the UK who lives in France.  Now the lessons will go to 3 other East African countries such as Rwanda, Burundi & the DR Congo at Goma. They are now going to be translated into the native language of Rwanda.

The lessons are a great need to the East African to learn how to live the Christian life biblically. There are 30 different topics see the Home page for complete titles of the 30 lessons.

We have had about 45 graduates’ in Kenya and 29 more will graduate soon in Uganda with 39 in a refugee Camp in Sudan at Kakuma. The needs in this ministry are:  for the individual in East Africa to send his lessons for corrections; for a corrector salary for postage & for the Student Bible that is awarded to them, upon completion. Would you like to donate a Bible or more? They are US $8 to $9 each and we get them in Kenya in their own native language so there are little shipping costs. I can tell you how to do this on the How to Order Bibles page.

Now since the graduates want more of the word of God we are currenly developing courses for more indepth studies by the grace of God will you pray for us to be equipped to do is huge work. Some lessons are now finished for the Tabernacle and End Time Events and other topics.

If I may ask you to seek the Lord on this matter, will you see if you can send a monthly commitment or even a one time donation to their needs? If so, please send any donations by money order or cashier check {no personal checks for theft & forgery (by others enroute) reasons } put any contributions in a card or envelope that can not be seen thru--  to:

Be sure you designate where the money is to be used. Such as for the orphans in Kenya, Uganda or Rwanda, DR Congo etc.... The ABBCC school in Kenya. or other nations such as they are currently going to the French speaking nations and also the refugee camps in DR Congo & Sudan. There is also a struggling church that needs a roof in Suna So. Nyanza see the photo page.  Letters will cost you a stamp of 90 cents to mail from the USA.  To ship supplies it will cost you about $7-$8 a pound to mail by Air & takes two weeks to a month to arrive. Or you can use a Flat Rate box that is $37 or $47 for the larger size box.  See web page called Clothing Needs and Sizes for complete instructions on shipping to East Africa.
